one installer adds VST3 and Audio Unit
- Quit your DAW.
- Double-click the downloaded phrz .pkg file.
- If macOS says it cannot be opened (or that it cannot verify the developer), close that message.
- Open System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll down to the line about phrz and click Open Anyway. If macOS asks again, click Open and enter your password or use Touch ID. On macOS 15 and later, right-click > Open does not get past this warning, so use this way.
- Keep both VST3 and Audio Unit selected, then finish the installer.
- Open your DAW and let it scan plugins.
- Open phrz and finish sign-in in the system browser.
phrz plugin supports macOS 11.0 or later on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. For Windows, use the steps on the download page.
load the format your DAW uses
Ableton Live — use VST3
- Open Live's Settings and make sure VST3 system folders are enabled under Plug-Ins.
- In the Browser, open Plug-Ins → VST3 and find phrz under nok.
- Drag phrz onto a MIDI track.
Logic Pro — use Audio Unit
- Create a Software Instrument track.
- Open the Instrument slot, then choose AU Instruments → nok → phrz.
- Choose the stereo instance when Logic asks for a channel layout.
Other DAWs
Load phrz as VST3 or Audio Unit, depending on the formats your DAW supports.
remove only the phrz bundles
Quit every DAW, then move these phrz folders from your user Library to the Trash:
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/phrz.vst3~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/phrz.component
Open the DAW again and rescan plugins if phrz still appears in its list.
when phrz does not appear
restart the DAW after installing
A DAW that was open during installation may not see the new bundle until it starts again.
rescan the format your DAW reads
In Live, enable and rescan VST3. In Logic, open Plug-in Manager and reset and rescan phrz. An Audio Unit can take a little while to show up in the list.
macOS says it cannot open the installer
Open System Settings > Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway next to phrz. If it still does not open, download a fresh copy and contact support.
make sure the Mac meets the minimum
phrz needs macOS 11.0 or later. The same installer contains Apple Silicon and Intel code.
