Less time digging, more loops from every song.
dggr lays the whole song out as loops of the same length, from the start. Loops that sound alike share a color, and marks show where the song changes and which loops loop cleanly.
features
- load
- Drop in a song, or record the mic or a Chrome tab.
- finds
- Tempo (it follows songs that drift), where bar 1 starts, the key and how sure it is, and the chord of each bar.
- lay out
- The whole song as loops of 1, 2, 4 or 8 bars. Alike loops share a color. Marks show where the song changes, where there are no drums, and one-off sounds. A dot marks loops that should loop cleanly.
- hear
- Press a loop to hear it loop. Add drums under it. Shift it up or down by semitones; like a sampler, the speed changes too, and the key and chords follow.
- chop
- Chop a loop into 16 pads (on the attacks, in eighths or in sixteenths) and play them from the keyboard.
- move the start
- Press the top row of the waveform to make that spot the start of a loop. The whole song lays itself out again from there.
- drag out
- Drag a loop out as a WAV of exactly its length, to the desktop, Finder or a folder. Or save them all as a zip.
requirements
- browser
- Chrome recommended. Recording a tab, dragging loops out and sending them to a folder need it.
- price
- Free beta. No account.
- load
- wav, mp3, m4a, aiff, flac, ogg. Up to 15 minutes.
- record
- Mic or a Chrome tab.
- save
- WAV (32-bit float, at the song's own sample rate). In Chrome, send loops to a folder: add it to your DAW's browser and take them from there.
- daw
- Dragging straight from the browser into a DAW does not work.
- your audio
- Not uploaded. It all stays in your browser.
faq
- What is dggr?
- A free browser tool for finding the parts of a song worth sampling. It lays the song out as loops. The name is digger, as in digging through crates.
- Is it free?
- Yes. It is a free beta, and there is no account.
- Are my sounds uploaded?
- No. Everything happens in your browser.
- Which browser do I need?
- Chrome is recommended. Recording a tab's sound, dragging loops out and sending them to a folder need it.
- Can I drag a loop straight into my DAW?
- Not from the browser. Send the loops to a folder, add that folder to your DAW's browser, and take them from there. Dragging to your desktop or a Finder window works.
- What can I load or record?
- Like a sampler, that is up to you. Only use sounds you have the right to use.
