Why I built Chppr
Chppr started as a small way to test sounds faster.
Short answer
I built Chppr because I wanted a fast place to cut a sound, tap a pattern, and find out if the idea had a beat in it.
- Chop audio
- Test the pocket
- Keep making
Most beats begin before a full session. You hear a phrase, a drum break, a texture, or a small voice fragment, and the useful question is simple: does this move once it is chopped?
Opening a DAW can be too much for that first question. Chppr keeps the first pass small: load audio, mark slices, play a few hits, and decide what is worth keeping.
It also fits how I make music as nok. The tracks often start with small cuts, loose pockets, and a texture that feels better handled than polished.
So Chppr sits next to the music. It is a tool I wanted while making beats, and a place where other people can try the same kind of first sketch.
